The Individual Communication Procedure

In 2012 a new Optional Protocol was adopted with the aim of setting up a communication procedure. It entered into force in 2014. The individual communication procedure is a mechanism that allows individuals, who deem to have suffered the violation of a right protected by the CRC Convention, to address a claim before the Committee.

From 2014, in relation to the States that have ratified it, the Committee on the Rights of the Child is able to receive and consider individual communications if all the required conditions are satisfied (see OP CRC complaint procedure).
