Until today, the complaint procedure has not been activated in relation to Western Sahara situation. This does not mean that it would not be possible in the future. For example, it has been used for the serious human rights situation in Eritrea, Iraq, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Guinea, Maldives, Uzbekistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kyrgyzstan.
