The situation of human rights in Western Sahara has been taken into account during the evaluation of the periodic reports of Morocco. In relation to Saharawi refugees, the Committee has issued specific recommendations during the evaluation of the periodic reports of Algeria.
Morocco and Algeria ratified the CRC in 1993 and are parties of the first and the second Optional Protocol. They are obliged to submit regularly a report on the respect of the Convention’s provisions as well as of the first and the second Optional Protocol’s provisions.
