Individual Communications

Until today no communications have been brought by individuals to the attention of the Committee in relation to the Human Rights situation in Western Sahara.

It is worth noting that Morocco has accepted the competence of the Committee to receive and consider complaints from individuals in 2006. Therefore, individual who are under the jurisdiction of Morocco and deem to have suffered a violation of a right set forth in the CERD may submit a communication to the Committee. At the moment, no communications which are related to the Western Sahara human rights situation have been brought to the attention of the Committee.

In the case of individuals who are under the jurisdiction of Morocco and believe that Morocco has violated the rights protected by the following treaties, they may submit a complaint to the Committee filling the following form: Complaint Form for CERD.

Once the form is filled, it must be sent to one of the following adresses:

  • by mail: Petitions and Inquiries Section – Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights / United Nations Office at Geneva, 1211 Geneva 10, Switzerland.
  • by e-mail: petitions[at]ohchr.org

In a urgent context, a petition may be sent also by fax to + 41 22 917 90 22.
