Reports of the UN Secretary-General on the situation in Western Sahara

Following the establishment of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), the UN Secretary-General has always been asked to provide reports on the situation in Western Sahara before the end of the mission’s mandate. Therefore, in light of the several renewals of MINURSO since its first deployment in the region, the UN Secreatry-General has reported to the UN Security Council several times and, occasionally, has addressed the situation of human rights in Western Sahara.

By bearing in mind that the reports are due under the resolutions concerning MINURSO and are not part of any human rights protection mechanism binding for all parties involved, all UN Secretary-General’s reports published so far are available below for those who are interested:
